A private family funeral will be held on Thursday, March 29th, for Robert “Jack” Lane II. Burial will be in the Oronoco Cemetery with Military Rites by the Rochester American Legion Honor Guard.
Mr. Lane, 78, of Oronoco, MN died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at his home in Oronoco, MN.
Robert Jack Lane, II was born April 12, 1933 in Stewartville, MN to Robert and Dorothy (Ballard) Lane I. Jack was raised by his great aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Rody Rutz. He graduated from Wabasha High School in Wabasha, MN. From 1951 to 1955 he served his country in the US Navy. On November 17, 1951 he married Mary Jane Reck in California. After serving his country they lived in Lake City, MN from 1955 to 1974 where he owned and operated Lane Electric for 17 years. They then moved to Oronoco and Jack worked for 20 years as an Electrical Inspector for the City of Rochester, after retirement he worked with his son in Electrical work for 10 years. Then he worked for Kelly’s in Mazeppa for 2 years. Jack also repaired chainsaw’s in his shop at home, and enjoyed working in his shop. He also used to race Enduro motorcycles. Jack was a member of the Lehman Trike, Oronoco VFW, and the Pine Island Gun Club.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Lane of Oronoco, MN; four daughters, Pam (Mark) Arnold of Acworth, GA, Sandy (Glen Wahlers) Freese of Ft. Myers, FL, Mary Hatcher and Keli Johnson both of Oronoco, MN; two sons, Robert Jack (Patty) Lane III of Rochester, MN, and Randy Jay (Theresa) Lane of Stewartville, MN; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Cleo (William) Reece of Missouri, and one step-sister, Marilyn Jarmen of Spring Valley, CA. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Thomas, one daughter, Teri Lane, and one grandson, Thomas.
Casket Bearers will be Zachary Freese, Willy Gunderson, Cody Moore, Jamie Brunkow, Jack Lane, IV, Corey Johnson, Jeremy Moore, and Trever Arnold.
Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, MN.
