The memorial service for Martin “Marty” R. Beyer will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 16th, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview, MN with Pastor David L. Frederickson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview with Military Rites by the Plainview American Legion Post #179 and Wabasha VFW Post #4086.

Mr. Beyer, 84, of Plainview, MN died Thursday morning, April 12, 2012 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN.

Martin Robert Beyer was born May 22, 1927 in Lake City, MN to Frank and Myrtle (Martin) Beyer. Marty graduated in 1945 from Elgin High School in Elgin, MN. He then served his country during WWII in the US Navy as Seaman First Class. Marty received his Bachelor’s Degree from Winona State University in Winona, MN.

Marty married Audrey Hill on December 2, 1950 in Rushford, MN. He lived his lifetime in the Plainview/Elgin area where he worked in Interior and Exterior Decorating prior to and after service as Wabasha County Treasurer from 1967 to 1993.

Marty was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview; Plainview American Legion Post #179 for 65 years, and a life time member of the Wabasha VFW Post #4086. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, playing golf, swimming, and watching the MN Twins and Vikings, he loved being outdoors.

Marty is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Beyer of Plainview, MN; one daughter, Connie (Greg) Heaser of Plainview, MN; two sons, Corey (Kathy) Beyer of McMinnville, OR and Craig (Janice) Beyer of North Bend, OR; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dr. E.F. (Ruth ) Beyer of Rapid City, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John W. Beyer, and one granddaughter, Anna.

Friends and family may visit from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, MN and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Monday. A Prayer Service will be at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice Home in Rochester, MN.
