Mary Mae Olson

The memorial service for Mary Mae Olson will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23rd, at Peace United Methodist Church, in rural Plainview/Elgin, MN with Pastor Deanna Woodward officiating. Burial will be in the Hilltop Cemetery in Millville, MN.

Mrs. Olson, 84, of Plainview, MN died early Saturday morning, May 19, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Mary Mae Roberson was born December 3, 1927 in Gillford Township, Wabasha County to Charles and Gertrude (Orton) Roberson. Mary attended elementary school in rural Wabasha County Schools and graduated in 1947 from Lincoln High School in Lake City, MN. On June 4, 1948 she married Howard Olson at the Methodist Church in Lake City. Since their marriage the Olson’s farmed in Oakwood Township, Wabasha County. Mary was a member of Peace United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women’s Group. She was also active in the Millville and Elgin PTA’s, and Hill and Valley Group of the Wabasha County Extension. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, doing jig-saw puzzles, and visiting with friends and family.

Mary is survived by her husband, Howard Olson of Plainview, MN; two daughters, Connie (Jim) Smith of Plainview, MN, and Gail (Mark Stedman) Olson of Cannon Falls, MN; one son, John (Jodene) Olson of Plainview, MN; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth (Robert) Hemphill of Hastings, MN and one brother, Warren (Jennie) Roberson of Lake City, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Friends and relatives may visit from 9:30 a.m. to time of service on Wednesday at Peace United Methodist Church, Plainview/Elgin, MN.
