Darlene Ann Roland

The funeral service for Darlene Roland will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26th, at Valley View Assembly of God Church in Lake City, MN with Rev. John B. Hodgell of New Hope Church and Rev. John Landmark co-officiating. Burial will be in the Dale Pleasant Prairie Cemetery, rural Zumbro Falls, MN at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Roland, 67, of Lake City, MN died Thursday morning, October 21, 2010 at her home in Lake City, MN.

Darlene Ann Pew was born April 16, 1943 in Rochester, MN to Darwin and Virginia (Calhoun) Pew. Darlene grew up in Rochester and attended Hawthorne Elementary School, Rochester High School and John Marshall High School graduating in 1961. On September 15, 1961 she married Philip Roland in Rochester, and they moved to Lake City, MN in 1962. Darlene worked at the Coat Factory in Lake City, was a Nurses Aide at the Lake City Hospital. For 17 years the Roland’s owned and operated the Sunset Motel in Lake City. Darlene enjoyed scrapbooking, doll collecting, traveling, and shopping.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Philip Roland of Lake City, MN; one daughter Susan (Robert) Hyland of Lake City, MN; four grandchildren, Joe, Andrew, Cody and Jordan; three brothers, Ron (Paraleen) Pew of Rochester, MN, Boyd (Gloria) Pew of Hayfield, MN, and Dale (Sandy) Pew of Riverside, CA; and one sister, Marian Kleeberger of Cedar Rapids, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Randy, and one sister, Elaine.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 25th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, MN and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Tuesday.
