Obituary

The funeral for Alfred A. Kath will be at11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10th, at Peace United Methodist Church in rural Plainview/Elgin, with Pastor Cooper Wiggen officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.

Mr. Kath, 87, of rural Plainview, died early Friday morning, September 5, 2014 at his home in rural Plainview.

Alfred August Kath was born February 19, 1927 in Racine Township, Mower County, to William and Minna (Hoppa) Kath. He attended rural Mower County schools. On April 24, 1954 he married Carolyn Hardke in Hammond. Alfred served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War, from December 19, 1951 to December 5, 1953.

Alfred has lived in the Plainview/Elgin area since 1973. He was employed at Rochester Dairy/Marigold in Rochester for 30 years. He enjoyed going fishing and farming. He was a member of Peace United Methodist Church, and the Plainview American Legion.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kath of Plainview; one son, James "Jim" (Connie) Kath of Stewartville; a grandson, Jacob Klomps of Mantorville, and a granddaughter, Madelynne Kath; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hadleigh Klomps; two sisters, Darlene Bredeson of Grand Meadow, and Elaine (Don) Brown of Rochester; one brother, Ronald (Paula) Kath of Rochester; and one sister-in-law, Charlotte Kath of Stewartville. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers, and two young brothers.

Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9th, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Wednesday.
