Alice Pallett, age 80, passed away on November 1st, 2026, after a period of declining health, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation in Plainview, Minnesota.
Alice Kathleen Winn was born on March 11, 1946, in Oakland, California, to Dr. James and Winifred (Hornung) Winn. The young family returned to Wisconsin following the war. As the second of ten children, Alice enjoyed a faith-filled childhood and willingly took on many of the nurturing responsibilities that come with being an older daughter in a large family. She attended school for a time at the convent in Racine, WI and later graduated with the Class of 1964 from Edgerton Senior High. She attended college at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and Madison Area Technical College in the secretarial program. In 1967, she served as a VISTA volunteer (Volunteers in Service to America) in Detroit, MI.
In December 1968, Alice married Thomas Pallett. They had four children and the couple later divorced. Throughout her life, Alice faced significant challenges due to bipolar disorder, but she found strength in her faith and could always count on the unwavering love and support of her family and dear friends.
Alice found great joy in travel, art, holidays, books, poetry, and music. She delighted in the wonder of children and in sharing her gifts of song and plays. In her later years, she helped care for her aging parents and disabled brother before moving to Minnesota to be closer to her grandchildren.
One of Alice's favorite quotations was by Robert Frost:
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.”
Alice is survived by her children, Dr. Steven Pallett of Edgerton, WI, Michael Pallett of Yuma, AZ, Anna (Todd) Graner of Kellogg, MN, and Kristina Pallett of Greenfield, WI; her former spouse, Thomas Pallett; her grandchildren, Abbey, Adam, and Sophie Graner; and her great-grandchildren, Everleigh and Beckham Lozano. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Mary (Gil) Jelinek, Patty (Doug) Risch, Peggy (Bill) Maves, Jim (Mary) Winn, Teresa Bell, Tony (Sarah) Winn, and Joe (Tami) Winn; her beloved nieces and nephews and their families; and her lifelong best friend, Anne Edwardson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Winnie Winn, her brother Bobby Winn, sister Barbara Winn, and her brother-in-law Bob Bell.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Cottagewood of Rochester, Green Prairie Rehabilitation, and Mayo Clinic Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Alice.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday November 13, 2026, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Edgerton, Wisconsin, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at St. Josephs Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Towne Country Club in Edgerton.
