A Celebration of Life Service for Alice L. Schwirtz will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Theilman.
Mrs. Schwirtz, 89, of Plainview and formerly of Theilman and Wabasha, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 26, 2016 at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview.
Alice Lorraine Holden was born April 21, 1927 in Lake City, to Lionel and Ruth (Million) Holden. She attended Lake City Public Schools. On October 26, 1946 she married Leslie Schwirtz in Conception. Alice lived most of her life in Wabasha County, except for several years she lived in Duluth.
Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family. She loved to spend time doing puzzles, playing Bingo, was a Viking fan, and enjoyed going for walks and traveling. Alice loved cats and collecting cat memorabilia.
Alice is survived by a daughter, Gloria Simanovski of Rochester; two sons, Gary (Rosemary) Schwirtz of Plainview, and John Dunahee of Eyota; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Len and Art, and two sisters, Leona and Florence.
