Allen "Al" Adolph Fravert, 85, of Plainview Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, peacefully at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester – Methodist Campus. Al was born on January 24, 1939, in Marshfield, Wisconsin to Otto and Alma (Franz) Fravert. Al attended elementary and high school in Greenwood, Wisconsin. During his school years, Al was the lead in the junior class play "Papa Was a Preacher" and was awarded the State Farmer's Degree. The Ag projects Al was most excited about were his purebred Holsteins and Yorkshire pigs. Al graduated from Greenwood High School in 1957, and then took over the family farm.

In the fall of 1959, Al married Mary Larsen. The couple had three children, Larry, Karen, and Carol. They were later divorced.

Al enjoyed farming for 17 years. He then went to work for the Badger equipment dealer, and then at Greenwood Mobile Home factory. Al then managed the Midland Co-Op hardware store and LP division. Then he moved to Plainview and became a dairy equipment specialist for Midland Co-Op where he covered the Plainview, Lewiston, and Red Wing areas.

In November 1982, Al married Randi Ersland. Randi had two children, David and Melissa.

Al owned and operated WAK Dairy Equipment business before going to work for ABA Water Systems. From there Al went to Haley Comfort Systems where he was a heating and air conditioning technician. Al retired from Haley's in 2014. Since retirement, they have enjoyed wintering in Texas.

Al was active with many community groups throughout the years. Al was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Clark County and Rochester Male Choruses. Al was very active with the Plainview Lions Club. He met with the DNR for three years to get permission for the Plainview Lions to build the shelter in Carley Park. He also served as the 5M1 District Governor from 2005-2006. Al founded the 5M1 Leo forum. Al served on the Camp Winnebago board of directors for 11 years. During this time, Al was president of the board and chair of the Building Committee. He worked with a design building contractor on a building that housed the office and conference room, kitchen and dining room, and a large multifunctional room including staff housing in the lower level.

Al served on the Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation for six years. During his time with the Lions, Al was awarded the Melvin Jones award, the Al Jensen leadership award. Al also received two Lions International President Leadership awards. Al and Randi enjoyed traveling internationally with Lions and the choruses.

Al was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper, and golfer. Al enjoyed making many woodworking projects for his family and friends.

Al is survived by his wife, Randi, five children, Larry Fravert, Karen (Terry) Bush, Carol Schimdt, David Brennan, Jr., and Melissa (James) Neumann; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, LeRoy and Orlin, and his first wife, Mary.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, at the Church of Christ in Plainview with Pastor Bob Blanshan officiating. Friends and family may visit from 9:30 until the time of service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the family or to the Church of Christ.
