Arlan "Art" Wayne Baumler, 80, of rural Zumbro Falls, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on September 14, 1944, in Decorah, Iowa to Martin and Esther (Schott) Baumler. He grew up attending rural elementary schools in Winneshiek County, Iowa and graduated from Canton, Minnesota High School in 1962. Arlan served his country in the U.S. Army from 1963 – 1965. He married the love of his life Karen Bray on October 19, 1968, in Rochester.
Arlan was employed by IBM in Rochester for 26 years. He also was a school bus driver for the Kennedy Bus Company out of Zumbro Falls for 28 years. He loved to attend meat and gun raffles, enjoyed going deer hunting, and was a firearm collector. Arlan was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Millville Valley Legion Post #579 and the Zumbro Falls VFW Post #1802.
Arlan is survived by his loving wife Karen Baumler of Zumbro Falls; two daughters, Sara Baumler of Lake City and Melanie (Don) Chapel of Houston; a son, Greg (Candy Cunningham) Baumler of Hammond; two grandchildren, Daren and Brandon; sisters, Diane Schmelzer of Decorah, IA and Sharon Wiltgen of Gaylord, MN; a brother Floyd Baumler of Rochester; and brother-in-law, Wes Bray of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Elaine, LaVonne, and Donna, and two brothers, Virgil and Larry.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, West Albany in rural Millville, with Father Thé Hoang officiating. The burial will be in St. Clements Catholic Cemetery in Hammond with Military Rites by the Millville Valley Legion Post #579 and Zumbro Falls VFW Post #1802. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
