The funeral service for Avis L. Conrad will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 26th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Pastor Colleen Hoeft officiating. Burial will be in Farm Hill Cemetery in rural Olmsted County.

Mrs. Conrad, 92, of Lake City and formerly of rural Rochester, passed away Friday morning, August 22, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center.

Avis Leone Erickson was born April 26, 1922 in Millville to Swan and Hanna (Johnson) Erickson. She attended rural Wabasha County Schools and graduated in 1939 from Plainview High School. On October 16, 1943 she married Maynard Conrad in Lake City.

The Conrad's farmed in Zumbro Township, Wabasha County for 71 years. Avis enjoyed gardening, sewing, watching birds and loved peacocks. She loved to study their family history and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, great and great –great grandkids. In March of 2013 she entered the Care Center.

Avis is survived by her loving husband of 70+ years, Maynard of rural Rochester; three daughters, Judy (Ron) Haglund of Oronoco, Sandy (Tom) Haglund of Plainview, Lori (Jay) Littlefield of Byron; one son, Kevin (Charleen) Conrad of Millville; and one daughter-in-law, Julie Conrad of Rochester; 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Randy and Jerry, one sister, two brothers, and one grandchild.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25th, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
