The funeral service for Berdelle L. Holmstadt will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27th, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City, MN with Rev. Dr. Scott T. Fiege officiating. Private family burial will be in St John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City at a later date.

Mrs. Holmstadt, 86, of Lake City, MN died early Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center in Lake City.

Berdelle Leona Holmstadt was born May 19, 1927 in Red Wing, MN to Claus and Lydia (Muhlman) Jonas. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Hay Creek and graduated in 1945 from Goodhue High School. Berdelle then went on to Cosmetology School in Minneapolis. On August 28, 1948 she married Frederick "Fritz" Holmstadt in Goodhue. After marriage they farmed in rural Lake City until retiring in 1985 when they moved into Lake City. Berdelle was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City.

Berdelle is survived by one daughter, Garnet Holmstadt of Mendota Heights, MN; seven sons, Gregory (Diane) Holmstadt of Monticello, MN, Douglas Holmstadt of La Crescent, MN, Charles (Tess) Holmstadt, Daniel Holmstadt, Jeffrey (Susan) Holmstadt, Peter (Ruth) Holmstadt, and James (Michelle Holman) Holmstadt all of Lake City; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Raymond Jonas and Erwin (Audrey) Jonas both of Red Wing, Donald (Marcy) Jonas and Duane (Marilyn) Jonas both of Goodhue; and one sister-in-law, LaDonna Jonas of Goodhue. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fritz on January 14, 2008, two sisters and two brothers.

Friends and family may visit starting at 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday, September 24th. Memorials are preferred.
