Betty Joan Seidlitz, 88, of Plainview, died Friday, May 22, 2020 at Green Prairie in Plainview, Minnesota. Betty was born March 26, 1932, in St. Paul, MN to Willard and Florence 'Adeline' (Johnson) Walker. Raised in Saint Paul, she moved to Rochester in 1947. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1949. Betty married Robert Seidlitz on October 8, 1950, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester.
After their marriage, they moved to Charleston, SC while Robert served in the US Navy. Upon his discharge, they returned to Rochester for fourteen years and eventually settled in rural Elgin, where they farmed and operated Lynnhaven Antiques. Betty was a homemaker and was involved in scouting, 4-H, and historic preservation. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing the card game Skip Bo and other games, and watching the MN Twins and Vikings games. She will be greatly missed.
Betty is survived by her husband, Robert Seidlitz, of Plainview; three children, Linda (Ron) Stevenson of Spring Branch, TX, Brenda (Eldon) Malwitz of rural Elgin, and Donna Schreader of Rochester, a son-in-law Craig Beighley; 8 grandchildren: Staci Stevenson, Amy Stevenson, Jacob (Chad Weaver) Malwitz, Sara (Mitch) Walch, Evan Malwitz, Justin (Jolene) Schreader, Trent (Kait) Beighley , Cally (David) Murphy; 8 great-grandchildren; Brayden Stevenson, Isaac, Elias, and Ethan Walch, William and Leah Schreader, Levi and Alayna Murphy; and a sister-in-law, Helen Roedecker of Bloomington, MN. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carla Beighley, her parents, her sister Jean Larson and her husband Allen, her sister Marjorie Wilson and her husband Arlan, and her brother-in-law Allen Roedecker.
A private family funeral service will be held for Betty at Schleicher Funeral Home, Plainview Chapel, officiated by Pastor Dale Kohrs. Burial will occur at Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, MN.
Memorials may be sent to Green Prairie Place in Plainview or Mayo Clinic for genetic research.
