Beulah Rose "Billie" Gregor Schacht, 97, of Arden Hills and formerly of Millville, died Saturday evening, February 22, 2014 at her home in Arden Hills.
Beulah Rose Gregor was born October 30, 1916 in Millville to James and Elizabeth (Schade) Gregor. She attended elementary school in Millville and graduated in 1932 from Elgin High School in Elgin. She went on to Winona State Teachers College and earned her Bachelor's Degree in teaching. Beulah then taught in Millville and Mazeppa School Districts. On June 30, 1943 she married Kenneth Schacht in Berne, MN; he died on January 18, 2010. In 1952 they moved to Arden Hills. Beulah then taught in Roseville School District, from 1955 to 1981 when she retired.
Beulah enjoyed spending her time reading, traveling, doing crossword puzzles, gardening, and watching animals and being outside anything to do with nature. She was a supporter of Wild Life and Animal organizations. Beulah was a 45 year member of Alpha Delta Kappa (International Teaching Organization), and REA (Roseville Education Association) for many years. She was a former member of Grace United Church of Christ in Millville, and the Millville Cemetery Board that she served on for many years. Beulah was currently a member of New Brighton United Church of Christ and had served on many church boards; she also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.
Beulah is survived by her daughter, Kay Sorgatz of Shoreview; and caregivers Marvin and Elizabeth, and many friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, David J.
Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27th, at New Brighton United Church of Christ, 1000 Long Lake Road (corner of 694 & Long Lake Road). Funeral Services will be on Friday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at New Brighton United Church of Christ. A visitation will be held in Millville on Saturday, March 1st, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Grace United Church of Christ, Division Street, followed with a service at 11:00a.m. Burial will be in the Millville Cemetery following the service on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to the MN Humane Society, New Brighton United Church of Christ, or Home for Life.
