Obituary

The Funeral Mass for Budde Funke will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church – West Albany, rural Millville, with Father Donald Schmitz officiating.  Burial will follow the service in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.

Budde Wilfred Funke, 91, of rural Lake City, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 6, 2018.  He was born January 18, 1927 in Wabasha, to Ervin and Frances (Budde) Funke.  He was raised in the Theilman area and attended country school in rural Theilman, and then attended Plainview High School.  He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.  Budde married Joyce Marking on December 2, 1961 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Theilman.

Budde owned and operated Funke Bros. Construction with his brother Leland, and farmed in rural Lake City.  He enjoyed going fishing and hunting, playing cards, and chaperoned the younger generation.  Each spring Budde loved to make maple syrup with his family.  On May 12, 2018 he joined with other veterans on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Budde is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Funke of Lake City; children, Robert (Marlene) Funke, Richard (Lesa) Funke both of Lake City, Susan Funke of Pepin WI, and Mary (Jim Beaulieu) Funke of Plainview; grandchildren, Michael (Amy), Emily, Amelia, Olivia, Kathleen (John Langteau), Aaron "Budde", Ella May, Issac, Tanner, and Tamika; great-grandchildren, Eli, Amber, Levi, and Luke; step-grandchildren, Angela Polozun and Carley Eichmann; and a brother, Leland Funke of Theilman.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Audrey, Jean, and Geraldine, and a brother John "Jack".

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
