The memorial service for Carl Myer will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22nd, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Joseph P. Pete officiating. Friends and family may visit from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service at the Church.
Mr. Myer, 89, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, St. Marys Campus.
Carl William Myer was born March 24, 1924 in Ellsworth, WI to Charles and Elizabeth (Eichman) Myer. He attended country school in the Ellsworth area. On September 20, 1949 he married Marjorie Miller at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City. Carl has lived in the Lake City area since December of 1955.
Carl farmed for many years and worked at Gould (Federal Mogul) in Lake City, and at Farmers Elevator. In 1976 he started Myer Feed and Farm Supply and operated it with his wife and son until 1990 when he retired.
Carl was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and was very active in the Knights of Columbus and served as a Grand Knight. Carl enjoyed going fishing, and was an avid Twins fan.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Myer of Lake City; one son, Joe (Kathy) Myer of Lake City; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Myer of East Troy, WI; four grandchildren, one step-grandchild, four great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and twin step great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, six sisters, one daughter-in-law, Jean, and one son, Michael.
