The funeral service for Charles "Charlie" Stangler will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Pastor Chuck Coggins officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.
Mr. Stangler, 77, of Plainview, died early Sunday morning, May 4, 2014 at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.
Charles Edward Stangler was born November 26, 1936 in Waterville to Charles Oscar and Lula "Dollie" (Flowers) Stangler. He grew up in the Waterville area and attended Waterville Elementary and High School. On December 5, 1956 he married Ione Dehn and later divorced; in October of 1969 he married Donna Reed and they were later divorced.
Charlie lived in various places in Southern Minnesota, until moving to Plainview in the early 1970's. He was a self-employed carpenter. Charlie enjoyed going horseback riding, hunting, and hobby-farming. He was an avid Vikings fan.
Charlie is survived by two daughters, Amber (Rick) Staudacher of Plainview and Weaver, and Angela (Wayne) Ball of Elgin; four sons, Joel (Mandy Larson) Stangler of Weaver, Michael (Lisa) Stangler of Saint Charles, Daniel (Lory Ann) Stangler and Kelly (LuAnn) Stangler both of Elysian; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.
Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. to the time of service on Friday, May 9th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview.
