The funeral service for Charles M. Hoekstra will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, at the Church of Christ in Plainview, with Pastor Chuck Coggins officiating. Burial will be in St. Joachim's Catholic Cemetery in Plainview.

Mr. Hoekstra, 87, of Plainview, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Mary Campus.

Charles Martin Hoekstra was born April 5, 1928 in Forest Lake, MN to Delbert and Alvina (Alm) Hoekstra. Grew up and attended Forest Lake Schools graduating in 1946. On January 21, 1949 he married Patricia Costello in Brookings, SD.

After their marriage they lived in Forest Lake until 1953 when they moved to Plainview. Charles owned and operated a Portable Feed Mill Business. He also worked for Durgin Freight, George Mason Trucking, and Ardell Schultz part-time. Charles was also employed as a Warehouse Manager by Lakeside Foods in Plainview for 28 years, and worked at the Plainview Post Office for many years. He also drove school bus for the Plainview and Plainview-Elgin-Millville Districts for 18 years, as well as he worked at Plainview Disposal.

Charles is survived by his wife, Patricia Hoekstra of Plainview; two daughters, Jeannie Donahue of Plainview, and Mary Culbertson of Howard Grove, WI; six sons, Charles Robert "Bob" (Beth) Hoekstra of Hampton, MN, Thomas (Lisa) Hoekstra, James (Penny) Hoekstra both of Plainview, Michael (Debra) Hoekstra of St. Charles, MN, Randy (Vickie) Hoekstra of Lewiston, MN, and Richard Hoekstra of Plainview; 27 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Luella "Snookie" (Donald) Holl of Forest Lake, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Dellas.

Friends and family may visit from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Memorials are preferred.
