Obituary

The funeral service for Charles L. Kingsley will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27th, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1900 East 6th Street in St. Charles, MN with Father William Kulas officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in St. Charles with Military Rites by the St. Charles American Legion and St. Charles VFW Posts conducted at the church.

Charles Leo Kinglsey, 83, of St. Charles, MN died at his home on Friday evening, December 20th, surrounded by his family.

Charles was born in Rushford, MN on April 1, 1930 to Roy and Clara (Hennesey) Kingsley. He attended school at Vinegar Hill. He received his GED while he was serving in the US Air Force from 1947 to 1950, while in the Air Force he served as a Fire Fighter in the Panama Canal Zone. He married Marjorie Lou Shea on August 11, 1956 at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview. Charles worked for Brothers Boiler Company for 2 years in Minneapolis, and Marvin Kieffer Trucking for 2 years. He was also a farmer and an owner operator semi driver and instructor for a time.

Charles served on the Saratoga Town Board, was an Adult 4-H Key Leader for many years, and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where he served on the parish council. Charles was involved with the FFA Chapter in St. Charles while his sons were in school. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge for many years, and the St. Charles Senior Citizens. Charles and Marge were King and Queen for the Winona County Fair in 2000. He and Marge especially enjoyed going dancing and going on bus tours. He enjoyed playing cards especially 500. Charles loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially going to his grandchildren's school activities.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marjorie Kingsley of St. Charles; his four children, Diane (Wynn Fuller) Schloegel, Dale Kingsley, Doug Kingsley all of St. Charles, and Denise (Troy) Badker of Dover, a daughter-in-law, Lorri Kingsley of Winona; 11 grandchildren and one step granddaughter, 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Heim of St. Charles; and one brother, Donald (Rita) Kingsley of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Duane on May 6, 2011; one brother, Robert; four sisters, Dorothy Michel, Rita Vigness, Ruth Dudley, and Marge Henderson.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 26th, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Friday. A Wake Service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
