Charlotte Margaret Spurck, 93, of Rochester, and formerly of Minneiska and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Cottagewood Senior Living in Rochester. She was born August 26, 1929, in Winona County, Minnesota to Leo and Agnes (Stroot) Dondlinger. She attended school in rural Winona County Schools and Plainview Community Schools graduating from Lourdes High School in Rochester in 1948. Charlotte went on to attend and graduate from the College of St. Theresa in Winona and received her master's degree in education from Winona State College. In 1947 she joined the Catholic Order of Franciscan Nuns. As a Catholic Nun Charlotte spent 20 years teaching in Minnesota.
On October 20, 1973, she married Richard Spurck at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Charlotte was an elementary teacher in the Cedar Rapids area for many years. In 2018 she moved to Rochester with Richard to be closer to family. Charlotte loved to garden, she enjoyed starting her seeds in early April with friends in the greenhouse, and then planting them in gardens. She volunteered at the Prairiewood's working in their gardens tending the flowers for many years. Charlotte also would take hundreds of her plants to the Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Janesville, Minnesota and with the help of volunteers they would gather and plant, weed, laugh, and have fellowship together for the day. Charlotte also loved the arts and spend time working on crafts.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Spurck of Rochester; one sister, Kathleen "Kay" Blattner of Millville; and one brother, Kenneth Dondlinger of Kellogg. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and seven brothers.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with Father James Russell and Father Prince Raja co-officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Minneiska.
Family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the staff at Cottagewood Senior Living for the wonderful care Charlotte received.
