Curtis "Curt" Lee Wenger's Obituary
The funeral service for Curtis "Curt" Lee Wenger will be held Saturday, October 4th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, with Father Joseph Pete officiating. Friends and family may visit from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Curtis, of Salt Lake City, UT, formerly of Rochester, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 18, 2014.
Curtis Wenger was born June 30th, 1966 in Rochester, MN to Bob and Marty Wenger. He attended St. John's Grade School and was a 1984 graduate of Lourdes High School. He graduated from St. Mary's University in Winona, MN in 1989 with BA's in Mathematics and English Literature, and where he was active in the theater. After completing Law school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1994 he moved to Salt Lake City where he practiced law. He fought hard for his client's needs whether it was a high profile litigation or a simple case for a friend. Curtis married Katherine Parkinson on August 14, 1993 in Park City, UT. They were later divorced.
Curt was a man of many interest. Hockey was his favorite. He first laced up a pair of skates at the age of 5. He was the captain of his team at Lourdes. His adult teams won many tournaments in and around Salt Lake City. He was selected to skate in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2002 ParaOlympics. He completed the Chicago Marathon October 13, 2002. Curt enjoyed fishing especially trips to Canada with his son and father. He appreciated good food and fancied himself a gourmet cook. Curt was a generous, outgoing man with a heart of gold. He dearly loved and was especially proud of his children.
Curt is survived by his children, Samuel (Sam) and Elizabeth (Lizzie) of Salt Lake City, his parents, Bob and Marty of Lake City, two sisters, Stacy (Marc) Lunardini of Oak Park, IL and Katie Condon of New Ulm, MN, Ex-wife, Katherine Parkinson of Salt Lake City, many aunts, uncles, cousins and one niece - Sofie Lunardini. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He was loved so much and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
