Darlene Everita Marie Aufenthie, 84, of rural Millville, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview with her family by her side. She was born on October 5, 1940, in Rochester to Elmer and Carol (Johnson) Ostrander. Darlene grew up attending school in Millville and graduated from Elgin - Millville High School in 1958. On November 30, 1958, she married Allen Parkinson and was later divorced. She married William Aufenthie on May 19, 1990.
Darlene spent her working career at IBM in Rochester. She loved to bake for her family and friends, spend time reading, doing crossword puzzles, word searches, and playing Bingo. Darlene loved her time spent with her family and especially her number one thing was the love she had for her grandchildren. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Millville.
Darlene is survived by her children, Jeff Parkinson of Rochester, and Kenneth (Stacey) Parkinson of Millville; stepchildren, Jamie Stolp of Rochester and Scott Aufenthie of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren, Cassy (Rodney) Knudson, Rick (Ashley) VanHeiden, Barbara (Lee) Parkinson, Cody (Sinath) Parkinson, McKenna (Logan) Parkinson, Svannah Parkinson. Sierra Parkinson, Samantha Parkinson; step-grandchildren, Katlin Aufenthie and Julia Aufenthie; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one step-great-granddaughter; sisters, Donna Ostrander of Eagen and Karren Henry of Lewistown, PA; a brother, Eric Ostrander of San Francisco, CA; sister-in-law Lois Ostrander and brother-in-law Earl Fluegal. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Deborah VanHeiden, husband William Aufenthie, sisters, Sheila Fluegal, Adeline Chaney, Josephine McNess, MaDonna Hawkins, Lucille Quain, and Rosella Lewis, brother Arthur Ostrander, grandson Charles VanHeiden, son-in-law Chuck VanHeiden, stepson Jeffrey Aufenthie.
The funeral service for Darlene will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, with Pastor Ana Wilson officiating. The burial will be at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday at Millville Cemetery in Millville. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral on Wednesday.
