Obituary

Dar (Darrell) Weaver passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 29, 2026.

Darrell Dee France was born on September 29, 1941, to Aneta and Orval France in Cheboygan, Michigan—at the "Tip of the Mitt"—where she was surrounded by her cherished family. She spent her summers water skiing on Mullett Lake and her winters downhill skiing at Black Mountain, where she was honored as Snow Queen one winter. Darrell graduated from Cheboygan High School and later earned her Associate Degree in Teaching from Michigan State University.

While working at Proffit's Drive-In, she met her future husband, Neil. They were married on September 8, 1962, and began their family life in Lansing, Michigan. In 1969, they moved to Minnesota, first settling in Atwater. In 1974, they made their lifelong home in Plainview, Minnesota.

Throughout her life, Dar was well known for her exceptional accounting and organizational skills. She began her career as Head Teller at Michigan State Employees Credit Union, later working as Office Manager at Telephone Engineering Services. After moving to Plainview, she worked for many years at Evans Accounting. In 1985, she joined her husband in their family business, ABA Water Systems, Inc., where she worked until her retirement in 2021.

Dar was actively involved in the Plainview community. She enjoyed bowling, served as Treasurer at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church—where she and Neil were charter members—and dedicated several years of service to the Plainview Area Migrant Council.

Dar is survived by her brother, Kevin (Janet) France of Cheboygan, Michigan; her children, Tim (Cindy) Weaver and Holly (Jeff) Irish; her grandchildren, John (Kylie) Weaver, Leah (Ben) Schuchard, Ethan Shones, Evan (Camryn) Shones, and Aidan Shones; and her great-grandchildren, Emery, Grace, Jack, Grant, Griffin, and Ben.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil; her parents, Orval and Aneta France; and many other cherished family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00–6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, at Schleicher Funeral Homes in Plainview. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Plainview, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
