David Eugene Books, 68, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2018 at his home in Lake City.  He was born June 13, 1950 in Lake City to Donald and Marilyn (Miller) Books.  He grew up in Mazeppa and attended school in Mazeppa.

David was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam.  He enjoyed hunting, cars and working on cars, and going morel mushroom hunting in the spring.

David is survived by his wife, Mai Books of Lake City, sons, Eric (Betsy) Books of Mazeppa, and David Harold of Winona; daughter, Kim Harold of Winona; and a step-son, Phu Nguyen of Lake City; his mother, Marilyn Books of Pine Island; 4 grandchildren, Eric Books II, Tylor Books, Mia Books, and JJ Webster; sister, Barb Blank of Hammond, and brothers, Maynard Books of La Crescent, and Joel (Jackie) Books of Georgia.  He was preceded in death by his father, brother Don, and first wife Debra Books.

David wished to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
