The Celebration of Life for David L. Marien will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16th, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Joseph P. Pete officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lake City.
Mr. Marien, 72, of Lake City, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the care center at Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City.
Dave was born on June 4, 1941 to Francis and Myrtle (Peters) Marien in Kellogg. He attended grade school in Kellogg and graduated from St. Felix High School in Wabasha in 1959. On November 28, 1959, he married Virginia Paine.
Dave was employed by Federal Mogul in Lake City for 26 years. Later, Dave and Ginger owned and operated Marien's Market & Deli in Lake City for 21 years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City. Dave enjoyed golfing, hunting, painting, woodworking, restoring old cars, and watching and attending sporting events. He especially loved spending time with his many dear friends and most of all spending time with his family.
Dave is survived by his wife, Ginger Marien of Lake City; four children, Jeri (Jeff) Prigge, Lisa Marien, and Tom (Marcy) Marien all of Lake City, and Jenny West of Woodbury; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a very special mother-in-law, Josephine Konkel of Lake City; a sister-in-law, Lorene Marien of Wabasha; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Diane Schad; brother-in-law, Gene Schad; brother, Duane Marien; and sister-in-law, Janice Steffen.
Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15th, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the care center at Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City.
