Obituary

Dennis (Denny) Allen Landers died in the comfort of his home on April 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Denny was born in Rochester, MN May 25, 1943 to Allen W. and Beatrice M. (Madore) Landers. The family moved to Red Wing, MN where Denny graduated in 1961 from Red Wing High School. Denny married Joanne Stephanie Haase on August 8th, 1964. He attended Winona State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Teaching degree where he played for the Warriors. He taught business & health and coached basketball in Lanesboro, MN for five years. After moving to Winona he was an Office Manager for Marangoni and Peterbilt. He continued his love for basketball as an assistant coach at Winona Senior High School. Denny started his insurance career at La Crosse Insurance Agency and joined the Marketing Department at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota in 1983. He retired in 2003 as an Account Executive. Denny and Joanne moved to Lake City, MN in 2004.

Denny's greatest joy in life was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and always looked forward to his annual BCBS golf trip as well as playing in tournaments even after retiring. He was always ready for a day out on the course. Denny was an active member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. Through the years he was a member of various education and insurance associations and volunteered for the BCBS Special Olympics.

Denny will be greatly missed by his wife, sons Brent (Sue Drier) of Winona, MN; Brandon of Minneapolis; daughter Andrea (John) Schuttloffel of Cannon Falls, MN; and grandchildren, Tanner, Tyler & Cooper Schuttloffel of Cannon Falls and Anna Landers of Winona; brother, Rick (Patti) Landers, Red Wing; In-laws Chantal Nentwig, Jerry and Sharon Haase, Jim and Mary O'Brien, Denny and Jan Francis, Kitty Lawrence, Steve and Julie Haase, as well as many nieces & nephews. To all of his lifelong friends who brought so much laughter and happiness into his life you meant the world to Denny and all of his family.

He was preceded in death by his father: Allen Landers, mother: Beatrice Landers and brother-in-law: Ed Lawrence.

A funeral service will be held at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, MN on Thursday, April 6th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. Private family interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona, MN at a later date.

Memorials are preferred to Red Wing Hospice.
