Obituary

Diane Marie Lovejoy, 78, of Elko New Market, Minnesota, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on March 19, 2025, at home, surrounded by family. Born to Irvie and Mary Ferguson on January 5, 1947, in Plainview, Minnesota, Diane entered the world with joy that no challenge could ever diminish. After graduating from Dover-Eyota High School and Minneapolis Business College, Diane held secretarial positions at various companies, eventually retiring as Executive Assistant at Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she was respected for her integrity, professionalism, and friendliness.

Diane married her high school sweetheart, Harvey Lovejoy, on September 6, 1969. They began their 55-year marriage at the Marine Corps Air Station in North Carolina, where their son, Terry Lovejoy, was born. In 1972 the young family moved to Barnesville, Minnesota, and in 1982 they moved to Elko, Minnesota, where Diane enjoyed spending time with family and their devoted dog, Buster.

Some of Diane's favorite hobbies included calligraphy, crocheting, Fimo clay creations, travel, looking at old family photographs, shopping, and listening to her husband Harvey sing and play guitar. She also delighted in attending Viola Gopher Count every year, where she could visit with relatives and lifelong friends on the front lawn of her parents' home. She was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed bus tours that featured Elvis Impersonator Brad Boice. She cherished the Lovejoy family gatherings, which were always brightened by her presence. Her faith in the Lord remained strong all the way through her journey here on Earth, and she frequently shared Scripture and prayers on Facebook.

Preceded in death by her parents, Irvie and Mary Ferguson, and her sister-in-law, Anita "Lynn" Ferguson, Diane is survived by her beloved husband, Harvey; son, Terry (Hesper) Lovejoy; grandson, Mitchell (Kelsey) Lovejoy; great-grandchildren, Mila and Conor Lovejoy; brother, Dr. Dennis Ferguson; sister, Cheryl (Jim) Golla; brother, Randy (Renee) Ferguson; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will miss her bright smile.

Pastor Chuck Coggins will officiate a celebration of Diane's life at Plainview Church of Christ on Sunday, April 6 at 3:00 p.m., after a 2:00 p.m. visitation. A private burial will take place at a later date, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Eyota, Minnesota.
