Dixie M. Zich, 74, of Wabasha died Wednesday evening, February 12, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Mary Campus. Dixie wished to be cremated and burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Dixie Marie Callahan was born January 1, 1940 in Winona, MN to Richard B. and Alvera (Blood) Callahan. She grew up in the Saint Charles area attending rural country school and Saint Charles High School. On February 20, 1988 she married David J. Zich and they lived in Jackson, MN moving to Sand Prairie by Wabasha in 2002. Dixie cared for special needs people in Wabasha.

Dixie is survived by her two sisters, Evelyn "Cookie" (Jim) Gwilt of Blooming Prairie, and Keta Callahan of Rochester; one brother, Richard Callahan of Rochester; a step-daughter, Rebecca Zich of Sioux Falls, SD and a step-son, Jerry (Nicole) Zich of Mountain Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David on August 14, 2007, one infant son, and one infant brother.
