The funeral service for Dolores H. Timm will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4 ^th , at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Dennis J. Valleau officiating. Burial will be in the Millville Cemetery in Millville.

Mrs. Timm, 87, of Lake City passed away on Tuesday evening, April 1, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center in Lake City.

Dolores Helen Grobe was born September 8, 1926 in Oakwood Township, Wabasha County, to Alfred and Lillian (Holst) Grobe. She grew up in Oakwood Township and attended Wabasha Rural District #24 School, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1945. Dolores obtained her teaching certificate from Red Wing Teacher Training School in 1946, and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Winona State University in 1973. On August 10, 1950 she married Gustave "Bud" Timm in Lake City. Dolores moved to Lake City in 1990 and entered the Lake City Care Center in 2012.

Dolores taught grades 1 – 8 in Wabasha County District #18 for 4 years. She then moved to the Bremen School in Millville for 1 year followed by 5 years in the Red School on Highway 63, and the West Albany School in grades 1 – 8 for 3 years. Then she went to Millville where she taught 2 ^nd grade or 4 ^th grade and served as acting principal from 1961 – 1971. She finished her teaching career at Elgin /Millville Elementary School from 1971 – 1991. Dolores was awarded the Southeast Retired Educators Association of Minnesota Educator Award in 2003; and received a certificate from the Minnesota State Department for 42 years of teaching.

Dolores kept herself busy in the community after her retirement. She was an active member of the Upper Hiawatha Retired Educators Assoc. where she served as its treasurer for many years. She belonged to the Lake City Medical Center Auxiliary; served as Vice-President, volunteered at the Nursing Home on a weekly basis, manned the phone for Tele-care monthly, and worked at the Hospital Information Desk monthly. She served as President and Vice-President of the St. John's Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and belonged to the church's Altar Guild. Dolores also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a life-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Her love of reading brought her to participate and serve with the Friends of the Lake City Library, the Wabasha County Historical Society, and the Community Education Advisory Council in Lake City. Dolores also volunteered time at the Wise Penny Thrift Shop, and served as an election judge.

Dolores will be remembered as a very kind and generous person who was known for remembering special occasions with a card or a note. Her love for sewing, and quilting brought great pleasure to many family and friends.

Dolores is survived by her two children, Gary (Jane) Timm of Millville, and Marian (David) Dittfach of Lake City; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd (Janice) Grobe of St. Paul Park, and Ralph (Diana) Grobe of Zumbro Falls; and sister-in-law, Peg Grobe of Plainview. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on March 28, 1981, one infant sister, Gladys, one sister, Marian Schumacher, and one brother Donald.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 ^rd , at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Friday.
