Doloris Helen Zimmerman, 83, of Elgin, passed away at her home on Friday, July 17, 2015. She was born January 12, 1932 in Norway, Michigan to Ivar and Helen (Lesnick) Warner. Doloris grew up and attended elementary and high school in Norway, Michigan. She went on to St. Mary's School of Nursing in Rochester, MN. On October 16, 1954 she married Noel Zimmerman in Norway, MI, they made their home in Rochester and moved to Elgin in 1971.
Doloris was first employed as a Surgery Nurse for Dr. Charles Mayo, and then as a private duty nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was the Director of Nursing at Hillcrest Nursing Home currently St. Isidore Care Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview, and then worked as a State Health Inspector for many years until her retirement. Doloris enjoyed spending time reading, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family and cat, Glenda. She was a former member of the Elgin United Methodist Church.
Doloris is survived by two daughters, Mary Zimmerman of Elgin and Sue (James) Marquardt of Dodge Center; three sons, Peter (Kelly) Zimmerman of Plainview, Thomas (Sheryl) Zimmerman of Savage, and David (Roxanne Bartsch) Zimmerman of Zumbrota; nine grandchildren, Kari, Austen, and Holly Heinz, Chris, Steve, and Thomas Zimmerman, Victoria, Kristin, and Patrick Marquardt; and two great-grandchildren, Sam and Alaina Schneckloth; and one sister, Jean (Walter) Hamlin of Norway, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on June 4, 2013.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
