Donald Wallace Mickow, 86, of Rochester, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Methodist Campus. He was born on March 15, 1939, in Hammond, Minnesota to Wallace and Myrtle (Herrick) Mickow. Donald attended Wabasha County Rural School and Millville Elementary School graduating from Elgin High School in 1957. He went on to serve his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War from August 21, 1957, to May 8, 1959. On November 16, 1968, he married Sandra Kahn in Potsdam, Minnesota.

Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force he lived in Arizona until 1965 when he moved to Rochester, Minnesota. Donald owned and operated the Mickow VW Repair in Rochester for 35 years. He also held an airplane pilots license for several years. He enjoyed being a collector of all things.

Donald is survived by his children, Marie (Eric) Pelinka, Sarah (Kim) Hesser, Carl Mickow, Donald (Sarah) Mickow, Jr. all of Rochester, and Aaron Mickow of Zumbrota; his significant other, Sharon Anderson of Decorah, IA; nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Emily, Abigail, Olivia, Mason, Brandon, Parker, Ben, and Joey, and one great-grandchild, Lyla; and two sisters, Marian Dexter of Stewartville, and Delores (Don) VanHouten of Elgin. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandra in 1998, a brother Jim, a daughter Sheri, and two grandsons, Ricky and Shaw.

The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, with Pastor Dean Zemple officiating. The burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester at a later date.
