The funeral service for Doris M. Schuchard will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13th, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview, MN with Father William Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, MN.

Mrs. Schuchard, 82, of Elgin, MN died Monday evening, January 6, 2014 at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.

Doris Marie Mulvihill was born April 15, 1931 in Byron, MN to Cecil and Myrtle (Tvedt) Mulvihill. She graduated from West Concord High School in 1949 in West Concord, MN. Following graduation Doris worked at the Rochester State Hospital. On February 11, 1956 she married Gene Schuchard at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville, MN. They lived in Charleston, SC while Gene was in the Air Force. They returned to Minnesota in 1957 and lived in Rochester for two years and moved to Elgin in 1959. In 1972 Gene and Doris took over ownership of Elgin Oil Company from his father. They retired from the Oil business in the early 1990's, and then Doris worked at Marriott Foods.

Doris enjoyed cooking, going golfing, RV camping, and spending time with her family. She and Gene wintered in Weslaco, TX for many years. Doris was a 50 year member of the Elgin American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview.

Doris is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Chris) LeBeau of Elgin, MN; four sons, Greg (Lorrie) Schuchard of Rochester, MN, Jeffrey (Melissa) Schuchard of Clear Lake, IA, Mark (Terri) Schuchard of Coralville, IA, and Brian (Brenda) Schuchard of Minnetonka, MN; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; 4 sisters, Eileen Kubista of Owatonna, Jean Buckingham of Kasson, Mary Kester of Chatfield, and Joan (Norman) Hoeft of Adams; 3 brothers, David (Margaret) Mulvihill, Carl (Alice Mulvihill, and Fran (Darlene) Mulvihill all of Rochester; one brother-in-law, Donald Lyman of Racine. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jim; one sister, Kate; her husband, Gene on April 1, 2013; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Rose.

Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Monday.
