Obituary

The Funeral Mass for Doris L. Wadley will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22nd, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church – West Albany in rural Millville, MN with Reverend Monsignor Robert Meyer and Deacon David Dose officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in rural Millville.

Mrs. Wadley, 81, of Lake City, and formerly of Millville, MN died Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center in Lake City, where she had resided for approximately one year.

Doris Larraine Shones was born June 28, 1932 in Millville to Harry and Anna (Blattner) Shones. She lived her lifetime in the Millville area where she attended the Millville Elementary School, and graduated from Plainview High School in 1950 in Plainview. On October 4, 1950 she married David Wadley at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; he died March 19, 2011.

David and Doris owned and operated Wadley's Bar in Millville from 1955 to 1961, and Wadley's Café prior to that. They then farmed in the Millville area from 1961 to 1984, and continued to live in the Millville area after they stopped farming. Doris enjoyed bingo and playing cards, and going camping with her family and friends. She was very proud of her 17 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and the Millville American Legion Auxiliary.

Doris is survived by three daughters, Carmen (Billy) Diedrich and Brenda (Melvin) Greer both of Millville, and Janell (Michael) Adler of Lake City; two sons, Jim (special friend Barb) Wadley of Millville, and Matthew (Cristine) Wadley of Elgin; 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Plank of Edinburg, NY; and two sister-in-laws, Gladys Shones of Millville, and Vera Shones of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie; three brothers, and three sisters.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21st, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Wednesday.
