The funeral service for Edna C. Freiheit will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6th, at New Hope Church – Baptist in Lake City with Pastor John Hodgell and Pastor Donald Still officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City.

On December 31, 2014 Edna went to heaven to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to celebrate the joys of heaven in the New Year 2015.

Edna Caroline Bathke was born on June 9, 1915 in Waseca to John and Emma (Born) Bathke. She attended school in Waseca and graduated in 1933 from Waseca High School. After high school she worked at a local greenhouse and at Western Nursing Home in Cedar Falls, IA.

Edna married Damon Freiheit on June 14, 1939 in Waseca. They moved to rural Lake City in 1939 and farmed until they retired in 1979 when the moved into Lake City. Edna was a member of Calvary Baptist Church now called New Hope Church – Baptist.

Edna enjoyed and loved spending time with her family, baking for them and others, and crocheting. She especially loved to garden, especially flower gardens from planning them, planting, and enjoying the beautiful flowers. She was also a member of the Trillium Garden Club.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Donna (Jim) Bremer of Duluth; sons, Duane Freiheit and Darrell (Judy) Freiheit both of Lake City; 6 grandchildren, Jeff Freiheit, Ross Freiheit, Chad Freiheit, Aric Freiheit, Matthew Bremer, and Becky Wolcyn; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Bathke of Albuquerque, NM; and one brother Warren Bathke of Bella Vista, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and five sisters.

Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church on Tuesday, January 6th.
