Elaine Lou Holm (Houghton), age 82 of Lanesboro MN, and formerly of Elgin and Roseville, entered into the presence of the Lord on July 28, 2018. She was proceeded in death by parents Harold and Eunice (Dickerman) Houghton. Elaine is survived by husband Peter, and their four children, Steven (Lauri), Thomas (Jennifer), Lori (Robert) Hausmann, Kari (Owen) Baker and 14 grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Glee (Gordy) Claussen, brothers Glenn (Ursala) Houghton and Mark (Carole) Houghton, sister in law Marion (Ken) Hoglund and brother in law Stephen (Glenda) Holm as well as many nieces, nephews and very dear friends.

Elaine was born in Rochester, MN on May 19, 1936 and graduated from Elgin High School and St. Mary's School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at the U of M Hospital, where she met Peter. Peter and Elaine were married on September 5, 1959 and embarked on a beautiful 59 year life together. Elaine was a devoted wife, and mother who lived out her faith through years of singing in choir, leading women's Bible studies, and mission trips to the Ukraine. Elaine's gift for baking, especially her delicious rolls will be fondly remembered by many family and friends.

Elaine's family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the many doctors, nurses, and the staff at St. Croix Hospice, Home Instead, and Presbyterian Homes for their care and support of Elaine during her battle with ALS. Special thanks to Renee Hasslet for her selfless and generous gift of time and special care.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, at Calvary Church, 2120 Lexington Avenue in Roseville; and at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, at Elstad Lutheran Church, 37784 Dogwood Road near Lanesboro. Interment will be at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston MN.
