Eleanor Mae Meyer, 85, of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. She was born March 15, 1938, in Lake City to Theodore and Clara (Schmidt) Schmit. Eleanor attended rural country schools in the Lake City area and graduated in 1956 from Plainview High School in Plainview. On October 4, 1958, she married the love of her life Lawrence Meyer at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview.

Eleanor lived most of her lifetime in the Plainview area. After graduating from high school, she was employed by St. Mary's Hospital in the Dietary Unit, and then worked at Lakeside Foods in Plainview.  She also was a former part-time employee of Plainview News in Plainview and Stumpf Printing in Wabasha.

Eleanor enjoyed traveling with her family and going fishing, playing cards and was a member of the 500 Card Group in Plainview. She was an avid gardener, was active in the Plainview Community, and was an devoted MN Twins fan.  Eleanor was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Connie Meyer (Katheryn Cranbrook) of St. Louis Park; two grandchildren, Erica, and Mari, plus bonus grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview with Father Peter Klein officiating. The burial will follow the service in St. Joachim's Catholic Cemetery in Plainview. Friends and family may visit from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
