Elizabeth (Betty O'Reilly) Boxrud passed away peacefully on August 3, 2018.

Elizabeth was born in Red Wing, MN on June 22, 1931 to George and Mary (Ryan) O'Reilly.  She grew up in Goodhue, MN and graduated high school in 1949.

Elizabeth met Edward Boxrud in high school and, after he returned from serving in the U.S. Air Force in Anchorage, AK, they were married at Holy Trinity Church in Goodhue on June 16, 1956. Elizabeth and Ed lived happily in Rochester the rest of their lives.  They enjoyed traveling together, and had many laughs and good times with friends and family over the years. Ed passed away on May 31, 2011.

Elizabeth is survived by her six children: Dennis, Hinkley, MN; Julie Taylor, Rochester; Jody (Russ) Emberton, Toronto, CA; Lisa, Grand Forks, ND; Tom (Amy), Rochester; and David (Maureen), Roseville, MN.  Elizabeth also has nine grandchildren: Jeff Taylor, Los Angeles, CA; Rebecca (Mike) Simanek, Chicago, IL, Mark Taylor, Beach Park, IL; Megan and Molly Boxrud, Roseville, MN; Anna and Olivia Boxrud, Rochester; and Josh Jerome and Ethan Johnson, Grand Forks, ND.  She is also survived by her sister Dorothy (Jim) Arendt, brother John (June) Haas, sisters-in-law Jeanne Lodermeier, Judy Boxrud, and Nancy O'Reilly, and brothers-in-law Mel (Maryann) Shultz and David Michaud, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elizabeth was very proud of her children, grandchildren and her strong Irish heritage. She enjoyed getting together with her family, playing cards, Sunday drives, Wednesday coffee group at Grandma's Kitchen, and chatting with friends and acquaintances alike.  Elizabeth was a devout Catholic, a Charter Member of the Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church, and was dedicated to the Resurrection community.

When Elizabeth first moved to Rochester, she worked in Medical Records at the Mayo Clinic.  Soon after, she raised their six children at home, and later worked at Rite Way Radio and TV.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Father, Mother, Stepfather Luverne Haas, brother George O'Reilly, and sister Karen (Haas) Michaud.

The visitation is on Thursday, August 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Church of the Resurrection in Rochester. The memorial mass is at 12 p.m. following the visitation. A private burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth encouraged memorials made to the Church of the Resurrection.
