The memorial service for Eloise Young will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3rd, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview with Father William Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin.

Mrs. Young, 89, of Elgin, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at her home in Elgin.

Eloise Theresa Mohnen was born December 27, 1924 in White Lake, SD to Matthew and Ida (Leibrich) Mohnen. She attended school in White Lake, SD. Eloise married Herbert Young on November 5, 1951 in White Lake. They lived in South Dakota, Northern Minnesota, and then moved to Rochester for 3 years, and in 1969 they moved to Elgin.

Eloise worked as a clerk in Platte and White Lake, SD, Lakeside Foods in Plainview and Libby's in Rochester. She then worked in Housekeeping at Rochester Methodist Hospital until her retirement in 1990. Eloise was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, and making felt calendars.

Eloise is survived by her daughter, Arlene Carol Young of Eagan; a son, Bruce Wayne Young of Rosemont; one grandson, Matthew (Amanda) Young and four great-grandchildren, Maya, Matthias, Makenzie, and Maccoy; two sisters, Margaret Bruns of Plankinton, SD, and Lola Mae (Terrance) Bruns of Plainview, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert in 2006; one infant daughter, Loretta; two sisters, Roberta, and Marie; and two brothers, Cletus and Norbert.

Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2nd, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
