Obituary

The funeral service for Elsie A. Schacht will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, with Pastor Terrill Bramstedt officiating. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin.

Mrs. Schacht, 99, of Kellogg and formerly of Elgin, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Nurturing Hands Elder Care in rural Kellogg.

Elsie Alvina Gusa was born November 6, 1915 in Elgin to Herman and Anna (Schuchard) Gusa. She attended school in Elgin. On June 19, 1936 she married LuVerne Schacht at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elgin.

After their marriage they lived in rural Eyota and then moved to the Elgin area in 1947. In 2009 Elsie moved to Plainview. She was a farm homemaker helping her husband on their farm and raising their family. She also worked at Lawlers Clothing Care in Rochester for several years. Elsie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin. She loved to tend to her gardens and especially her roses.

Elsie is survived by her two children, Carol (Martin "Marty") Wagner of Elgin, and LuVerne (Linda) Schacht of Sunland, CA; five grandchildren, Steven (Pamela) Wagner, Daniel (Janet) Wagner, Jeffery (Sara) Wagner, Rick (Terri) Schacht, and Lori Schacht; 11 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Mueller of Fountain City, WI. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband LuVerne on November 25, 1961; one sister, and three brothers.

Friends and family may visit from4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January, 13th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Wednesday.
