Ernest George Gusa, 93, of Wabasha, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 27, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center and Nursing Home in Wabasha.  He was born August 23, 1925 in Elgin to John and Mabel (Holland) Gusa.  Ernie attended school in Elgin.  On October 22, 1945 he married Margaret Hoffman at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview.

Ernie and Margaret lived in rural Wabasha, where they raised their family.  Ernie was a "Jack of All Trades", a farmer, carpenter, logger, policeman, insurance salesman, and seal coated driveways and parking lots.  Ernie was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.

Ernie is survived by his wife of almost 74 years, Margaret Gusa of Wabasha; six sons, Bradley (Lisa) Gusa, Darrel (Mary) Gusa, Gary (Gail) Gusa, Larry (Shirley) Gusa, and Jeff (Jessica) Gusa all of Kellogg, and Scott Gusa of Sturgeon Lake, MN; two daughters, Connie Gusa of Wabasha, and Barbara (Joe) Kirkwood of Lake City; 20 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and a son, James.

The family would like to thank St. Elizabeth Nursing Home, St. Elizabeth Volunteers, and Mayo Clinic Dialysis Team for the excellent care Ernie received.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
