Eugene William Halpaus, 78, of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY.  He was born July 1, 1941, in Millville to William and Evelyn (Kuhfuss) Halpaus.  Eugene grew up in the Millville area and attended Millville Public Schools.

Eugene worked for Gould (Federal Mogul) in Lake City for 40 years and retired in September 2002.  In retirement, he spent time solving puzzles, fishing, or watching TV.  He liked Lake Pepin, but he loved John Wayne movies.  In 2017, Eugene moved to NY to live with his sister Erna.

Eugene is survived by his siblings, Erna (Jimmy) Davidson of Dexter, NY; Margie Brown of Red Wing; Charlie Halpaus of Wabasha; Willie (Delores) Halpaus of Lake City; Hilbert Halpaus of Red Wing; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley Beck and Margaret Beckmann; and two brothers, Ronnie and Lloyd.

Funeral services for Eugene will be held on Thursday, November 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, with Pastor Alan Horn officiating, visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at the Millville Cemetery in Millville.
