The memorial service for Francis L. Fey will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, at Oak Hills Wesleyan Church, 410 28th Street SW in Rochester with Pastor Woody Roland officiating. Burial will be in Dale Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in rural Zumbro Falls.
Mr. Fey, 88, of Utica, passed away at his home on Friday, December 22, 2017.
Francis Leroy Fey was born December 27, 1928 in Mellette, SD to Benjamin and Teckla (Olson) Fey. He attended school in South Dakota, and went to college in Miltonvale, Kansas. On September 2, 1949 he married Della Roland at South Troy Wesleyan Church.
Francis worked as a mechanic in Cleveland, Ohio; and then was a farmer, dairyman, and trucker. Francis was active as an NFO Organizer/Promoter in Spink and Clark County in South Dakota. He also hauled Feather-lite trailers across the US, and then drove truck for the Strongwell Company for 14 years in Chatfield. Francis picked apples for Sekapp Orchard for several years also. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling, and also enjoyed singing.
Francis is survived by his wife, Della Fey of Utica; and children, Curtis (Carmel) Fey of South Bend, IN, Carolyn (Frank) Fey of Kasson, Betty Joe (Jerald) Kerns of Utica, Janelle (Eugene) Dykhuis of Minnesota City, Carmen Joy ( Dan) Fuchs of Ames, IA, and Michael (Roxanne) Fey of Ferney, SD; 8 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 2 sisters, 3 nephews, 1 niece, and 1 granddaughter.
Friends and family may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
