The funeral service for Frank Mitchell will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hammond, with Pastor Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City.
Frank Theodore Mitchell, 88, of Hammond, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Cottagewood Senior Living in Rochester. He was born December 20, 1929 in Omaha, NE to Theodore and Florence (Knutsen) Mitchell. Frank served his country during the Korean War. On September 22, 1951 he married Marguerite McGuire in Rochester.
Frank lived in the Rochester, Zumbro Falls, and Hammond areas. He was employed by Marigold Foods in Rochester (Kemps) for 34 years, as well as worked on various farms through the years. He was a very active member of St. John's Lutheran Church serving on the church council as an elder and many other duties.
Frank deeply loved his family, close friends, and church family, he especially loved "family get-together's". He enjoyed going fishing, watching the MN Vikings, and playing cards.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Marguerite of Hammond; daughters, Barbara (Michael) Mathias of Oronoco, and Ellen (James) Burnside of Lexington, KY; a son, James (Rhonda Richardson) Mitchell of Rochester; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Riley and a brother, John (Helen) Mitchell all of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Norman, and son Gerald.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church of Hammond.
