Franklin Roy Ellinghuysen age 91 of Plainview, Minnesota passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Green Prairie Assisted Living in Plainview.

Franklin was born April 1, 1935, in Winona, Minnesota to Ferdinand and Viola (Zimmerman) Ellinghuysen. He grew up attending the Grubb Country School in rural Plainview and went on to attend Plainview High School. Franklin served his country in the US Army from 1958 to 1960 when he was honorably discharged. On April 29, 1961, he married Bernadine Kronebusch at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview.

After his return from service, Franklin farmed for a majority of his life. After retirement from farming, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Elcore Construction. Franklin always enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing cards and dancing. Frank enjoyed spending time with his friends and family but above all, being on the water, fishing.

Franklin is survived by his loving wife, Bernadine Ellinghuysen of Plainview; two sons, Jim Ellinghuysen of Zumbrota, and Brian (Stephanie) Ellinghuysen of Kellogg; and two daughters, Janet McGuire of Plainview and Sherri (Tim) Mulholland of Zumbrota; eight grandchildren, Amanda Ellinghuysen, Nathan, Alex and Connor McGuire, Melanie Brooks, Raelin and Anthony Ellinghusen, Maggie Mulholland; five great-grandchildren, Gabby, Everly, Hallie, Emma, Waylon. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, a son, Bob, and a granddaughter, Josie.

The funeral service for Franklin will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Rev. Larry Sipe, Jr. officiating. The burial will follow the service at St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery in Plainview. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
