The funeral service for Gary "Slim" Wood will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Deacon John DeStazio officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joachim's Catholic Cemetery in Plainview with Military Rites by the Plainview American Legion Post #179.

Gary Arnold Wood, 73, of Plainview passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, January 30, 2018 at his home in rural Plainview. Gary was born May 10, 1944 in Wabasha, to Arnold and Delores (Spring) Wood. He attended school in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1962. Gary served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. On June 26, 1965 he married Georgean Rother at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview.

Gary painted for 53 years and owned and operated Gary Wood Painting & Decorating. He loved to coon hunt, go fishing, and enjoyed playing 500 with his card club.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Georgean Wood of Plainview; a daughter, Gena (Keith) Meitner of Osage, IA; a son, George Wood of Kellogg; two grandchildren, Bethany and Garrett Meitner; two brothers, Bernie (Rose) Wood of Wabasha and Gordon (Karen) Wood of Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
