Gary Seegmiller, age 68, of Stockholm, WI, and formerly of Chatfield, MN, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 1, 2021, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Wabasha, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel with a walk-through visitation from noon to 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 7, 2021. A private funeral following. Masks and social distancing are required.  Burial of cremains will take place at a later date.

Gary Michael Seegmiller was born on May 2, 1952, the son of Jules Frethiem and Gertrude (Malli) Seegmiller in Decorah, Iowa. He was later adopted by Floyd Seegmiller at a young age.  Gary graduated from Decorah High School and then attended Rochester Community College where he received his respiratory therapy degree.  At age 50, Gary returned to college and acquired his degree in nursing.

Gary married the love of his life Jane Yerhot on September 19, 1975 at St. Augustine Church in Austin, MN. Together they had four beautiful children. He worked as a respiratory therapist in Minnesota and Jacksonville, FL before moving to Chatfield, MN and joining the family business, Seegmiller Rock Products.  The Seegmillers moved to Rochester, MN in 2000. Gary and Jane retired from Mayo Clinic and moved to their home on Lake Pepin in Stockholm, WI in 2015.

Gary's approach to life was to work hard and play hard. He was a Master of Mining machinery and skilled in heavy equipment. Gary was a loving husband and proud of his 45-year marriage union with Jane.  He enjoyed boating and spending time with his family and friends around the Mississippi River. Gary had a smile and personality that could light up the room. He provided comfort to others through laughter and love. He loved and supported his children.  Gary encouraged them to obtain higher education degrees and follow their dreams. Gary will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd in 2005, Jules in 2010 and Gertrude in 2019; his sister: Martha in 2017; and his son at infancy: Michael Ray Seegmiller in 1984.

Gary is survived by his wife: Jane Seegmiller, Stockholm, WI; sister: Linda Seegmiller, Rochester, MN; three children: Jesse (Courtney) Seegmiller, Farmington, MN, Jenna (Joseph) Kells, Lake City, MN and Kari (Christopher) Shaw, Lakeville, MN; three grandchildren: Sydney and Trenton Seegmiller, and Colton Shaw.
