Gladys C. Lubinski, 89, of Plainview, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview. She was born on September 8, 1935, in Red Wing to Walter and Mary (Liffrig) Majerus of Bellechester. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Bellechester for grades 1 -8 and graduated from Goodhue High School in 1953 as class Salutatorian with a speech followed by guest speaker US Senator Hubert Humphrey.

Gladys went on to attend St. Mary's School of Nursing at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester where she earned her R.N. Degree in 1956. While working as a charge nurse on 1st medical she met John Lubinski, a patient on October 1, 1960. They were married July 21, 1962, by Rev. Donald Weshoff at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellechester. After their marriage they moved to Plainview in 1962, and Gladys continued working as a head charge nurse in Neurology at St. Mary's Hospital for many years. Gladys and John had two boys, Gregory and Thomas.  She continued working as a school nurse at Plainview Public Schools for many years, and as John's partner in farming on the home farm. Gladys enjoyed going fishing, gopher hunting, and fossil hunting. She was an avid vegetable gardener and enjoyed sharing the fruits of her garden with family and friends. She was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview.

Gladys is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Lubinski of Plainview; sons, Gregory (Dr. Colleen Etzbah) Lubinski of Rochester, and Tom (Dawn) Lubinski of Byron; 5 grandchildren, Zachary Lubinski, Bryce (Kelly) Lubinski, Cole (Anna) Lubinski, Jordan Warren, Logan Lubinski, and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to her immediate family, Gladys is survived by her siblings, Kay Majerus, Diane (Denny) O'Reilly, Dennis Majerus, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Colonel Dr. Roger Majerus and Lance Majerus, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Marvin Kieffer.

The family would like to thank the staff at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center for their dedicated care and compassion, particularly during her last days.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview. The burial will follow at St. Joachim's Catholic Cemetery in Plainview. Friends and family may visit from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
