A Memorial Service for Harold E. Weick, Sr., will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday November 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor John Berg officiating. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church.


Harold, 93, of Lake City, passed away at his home early Wednesday morning, September 2, 2015 with his family by his side.

Harold Edward Weick was born March 10, 1922 in Minneapolis, to Edward and Lillian (Anding) Weick. He married Dorothy Priebe on August 6, 1955 in Green Lake, WI and they made their home in Lake City.

Harold's life according to him. "Just an ordinary guy – raise on a farm. My sister and I received music lessons while in grade school she on the piano and myself on piano accordion. We used to play for farm bureau meetings, 4-H meeting, and also other events. I played for a few years but didn't feel I was that good and gave it up. I am still a life member of the Minnesota Conservation Federation and also of the local Sportsman Club. This is the Tale of Mr. Ordinary's life. Thank you. My time for work; 1 year at Bank, 3 years at Schafer Agency, 5 years at Di-Acro, and 26 years at IBM in Rochester. I did not serve in WWII, I volunteered to enlist and spent 5 days at Fort Snelling But I did not pass. I attended grad school at Oak Center, I did finish high school at the School of Agriculture at the U of M, and also graduated from Mankato School of Business."

Harold was born to serve either by election or by appointment. These are the following services Harold performed in his lifetime. Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce for 2 years; served on the church board at St. John's Lutheran Church as chairman and another as treasurer; 5 years as President of the Lake City Sportsman Club; President of Lake City Lions Club; 2 years as President of Minnesota Conservation Federation; 8 years for Lions Mint program and also Peace Poster Program; also spent 20 years serving on the sportsman's club Annual Fishing Contest. These are the following awards that Harold received. Melvin Jones Award – after serving as president of the Lions; Hearing Research Award; Helen Keller Sight Award; and a recognition plaque for serving on the Lions Mint Program and Peace Poster Program. He was also Wabasha County Senior Citizen of the Year 2014.

Harold is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Weick of Lake City; three children, Lisa McKay of Owatonna, Harold (Joanne) Weick, Jr. of Louisville, KY, and Mary (Bill) Chalmers of Key West, FL; five grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, and Katie McKay, Olivia Brady, and Samuel Weick; and one sister, Dorothy Kostuch of Menomonie, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Wendy Weick, and one daughter-in-law, Deb Weick.
