The funeral service for Harriet L. Lichtblau will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4th, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City, MN with Pastor Dennis J. Valleau officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City.

Mrs. Lichtblau, 91, of Lake City, MN died Thursday morning, August 1, 2013 at her home in Lake City with her family by her side.

Harriet Lyrene Haglund was born on October 11, 1921 in Bear Valley, Wabasha County, MN to Alvin and Elda (Klindworth) Haglund. She attended Kleen School and also St. John's Lutheran School in Lake City. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. On November 15, 1939 she married Adolph August Lichtblau at St. John's Lutheran Church. They were blessed with six children.

Harriet farmed with her husband, Adolph from 1939 to 1963. She worked at the Jewell Nursery in Lake City for many years. Harriet also worked at Lincoln High School in the cafeteria doing baking; other employment included the Old Bank Bar and the Gift Gallery in Lake City.

Harriet's hands were always busy. In early years with cooking, gardening, and canning. She and Adolph had huge gardens and sold produce. In her later years she enjoyed rug making, puzzling, and doing word searches. Throughout her life she loved nature, enjoying feeding the birds and squirrels. She loved her roses and flower garden.

Harriet is survived by her six children, Phyllis (Syl) Thiel of Lake City, Gerri (Rodney) Rabe of Lake City, Shirley (Kenneth) Ferguson of Riceville, IA, Gary (Donna) Lichtblau of Lake City, Lyle (Vicki) Lichtblau of Lake City and Judy (Dennis) Lortscher of Lake City; 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Lichtblau and Lorraine Glander both of Lake City; and a sister-in-law, Marcella Haglund of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Adolph on May 19, 2008, a brother, Lavern "Bud" Haglund, and an infant sister, Marcene Haglund.

Friends and family may visit from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3rd, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City, MN and one hour prior to the service at the Church.
