Helen C. Steins, age 98 of Clinton, Iowa and formerly of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, with her family by her side at her daughter's home in Clinton.

Helen was born on June 20, 1928, in Waseca, Minnesota to George and Mary (Dinneen) Demmer. She grew up attending school in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School in 1948. She married Vincent Steins on June 30, 1948, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester and they later divorced.

Helen lived in Rochester where she raised her daughters and was employed as an assembly worker at Waters-Connelly, currently Telex in Rochester, for 43 years. She also repaired hearing aids and did Audiology training.

She belonged to different bowling leagues over the years, and enjoyed spending time doing counted cross-stitch, ceramics, going dancing, and was a member of the Tops Club. In her later years she moved to Clinton to be near her family.

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (William) Buske of Clinton, Iowa and Sheila (Rodney) McElroy of Bellingham, Washington; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, Vincent Steins on July 11, 2004, one brother, and two sisters.

The Funeral Mass for Helen will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, at Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11 4th Avenue SW in Rochester with Father Bob Horihan officiating. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in New Richland, Minnesota.
