The funeral service for Herbert Fjelstad will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 7th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Pastor Colleen Hoeft officiating. Burial will be in Dale Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in rural Zumbro Falls with military rites by the Millville Valley Legion Post #579.

Mr. Fjelstad, 79, of Zumbro Falls, died Monday, June 2, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Methodist Campus.

Herbert Henry Fjelstad was born June 29, 1934 in Wykoff to Henry and Verona (Milbrath) Fjelstad. He grew up and attended school in Wykoff graduating in 1952. Herbert served in the U S Army during the Korean conflict. On July 7, 1962 he married Janice Walters in Millville.

Herbert was employed by IBM for 30 years and also farmed in Zumbro Township, Wabasha County for many years. Herbert was a member of the Millville Valley Legion Post #579. He served on the Zumbro Township board for 32 years.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Janice Fjelstad of Zumbro Falls; one son, Mark (Diane) Fjelstad of Zumbro Falls; one sister, Winnie (Ron) Gathje, and one brother, Gilbert (Anita) Fjelstad both of Stewartville. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
